I love these characters, though I do happen to be slightly biased. My brother developed the concepts for and directed the first two Australian commercials. I love that to see everything that is going on in the commercial, you have to watch the thing in slow motion. At least it makes it bearable to watch a few times over.

For a real kick, there are original concept drawings on most of the characters on the 'Wrigley's Extra Gum Characters' fan page on Facebook. Very cute.

It's nice to know that I am not merely biased and other people get a kick out of this too!
  • Seriously your brother did these commercials?? Amazing Lily. Tell him they are fantastic.
  • Isn't it fantastic!? You're right Rachel, I wouldn't want to chew the gum, it would make me sad to lose my cute friends.

Mr. Coffee...I love how happy he is to be in the car.

I love it! I also would not want to chew the gum and get rid of them. I think a party with cute bananas coffee cups and donuts would be a way better party than the one she was at! Haha
  • Well done Hutch.

    Found the Canadian version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIdsVGJLES4

Hahaha... I had completely missed the wine at the end. Hilarious. My favourite part is still the coffee cup looking in the mirror. Also, the banana is adorable. That's just a statement of fact. Adorable.
  • I personally love the coffee cup. He's adorable. There are a couple things in the video I love...subtle things. The cigarette punching the raspberry as they're waiting for the train and the tipsy bottle of wine at the end.

    Pure gold.

    Love it.

Ahem... you found that version, eh? Tee hee hee.

I have to say that this is absolutely my favourite commercial out right now... or that I've seen for quite awhile. It's nice to see some creative (and adorable) ads taking over Canadian televisions - even if they are spinoffs of old Australian commercials. If these characters were following me around, there is no way that I would chew gum to get rid of them. I'd have fewer friends with bad breath, but c'mon! They are so heart meltingly cute.

  • Ummmm…

"Ahhh! Woooh! What's happening? Who am I? Why am I here? What's my purpose in life? What do I mean by who am I? Okay okay, calm down calm down get a grip now. Ooh, this is an interesting sensation. What is it? Its a sort of tingling in my... well I suppose I better start finding names for things. Lets call it a... tail! Yeah! Tail! And hey, what's this roaring sound, whooshing past what I'm suddenly gonna call my head? Wind! Is that a good name? It'll do. Yeah, this is really exciting. I'm dizzy with anticipation! Or is it the wind? There's an awful lot of that now isn't it? And what's this thing coming toward me very fast? So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like 'Ow', 'Ownge', 'Round', 'Ground'! That's it! Ground! Ha! I wonder if it'll be friends with me? Hello Ground!"
